Overview
Centennial Farms has had tremendous success at the Saratoga Sale and our latest addition, purchased out of the 101st edition of the prestigious auction, looks poised to add to that success. The bay colt hails from the second crop of Breeders’ Cup winner City of Light, who is off to a fast start at stud. He is out of a young mare by the sensational broodmare sire Giant’s Causeway from a family with graded and group success all over the world for generations.
He completed his early training at the Middleburg Training Center and was made eligible for the lucrative Virginia Residency Program. Enlighten is trained by Todd Pletcher. He was able to add four races onto his two-year-old resume. He tried turf for his third and fourth starts finishing a game second by a head nose bob and third by 3/4 of a length.
Enlighten returned to Todd after getting a short break at the farm. He returned from the layoff with a trip to the Gulfstream winner’s circle November 30 after a gutsy move along the rail to break his maiden and secure the win. Make that two in a row for Enlighten when he won against tough open competition January 5 at Gulfstream Park.
He shifted north back to Saratoga at the end of April and returns to the entries on Saturday, May 10 at the Belmont at Aqueduct meet in the Eighth race. The AOC N2X race will be run at a distance of 1 1/16 miles on the grass. Flavien Pratt gets the call; Enlighten draws post four out of a ten horse field which includes 3 main track only entries.
