Overview
Champion Street Sense has not only stamped himself as an elite sire, but an in-demand sire-of-sires. This colt, out of a young mare by the brilliant Honor Code, hails from the elite family of Preakness Stakes and Metropolitan Handicap winner Shackleford, Alabama winner Lady Joanne, and more.
He settled in at the Middleburg Training Center for his early training and was made eligible for the lucrative Virginia Residency Program. The first of the two-year-olds to ship, he arrived at the Todd Pletcher barn in Saratoga at the end of May. Following a short break at the farm in the fall, he is spent the winter at Palm Beach Downs, and moved north at the end of April to Saratoga.
Makes Sense put in a solid effort for his career debut at Gulfstream Park on March 29 finishing second. He raced a bit green but we can’t wait to see what’s ahead for the colt. He’ll have his next chance on Saturday, May 17 in the Sixth race at the Belmont meet at Aqueduct. The MSW race for 3YO&up will be run at one mile on the dirt. Erica Cancel will ride from post position one in a field of eight.
