Overview
A graduate of the Keeneland September Sale, Litigate was selected by the longtime acquisition team of Paula Parsons and Dr. Carr as a member of the 2021 Elmont, LLC. Just like all of our prior stars, he immediately joined Parsons and her team Middleburg to begin his preparation for the racetrack.
Litigate marked the beginning of a new era for Centennial Farms, becoming the first starter and winner for our program in the care of Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher. He followed his debut score with a runner-up effort at Gulfstream Park before shipping to Tampa Bay Downs for the G3 Sam F. Davis Stakes. He and his partners were greeted in the paddock by a bit of a rainstorm, but it did nothing to dampen the day. He bounded to victory to earn a spot on the Road to the Kentucky Derby!
Unfortunately, Litigate went to the sidelines that spring, and his return to the races as a four-year-old was similarly derailed. The decision was made to retire him to a second career. After dabbling in fox hunting, he has found his calling as an eventer in the Middleburg area.
