It is an incredible testament to our team of Dr. Carr and Paula Parsons that they found two colts who not only met our high physical and pedigree standards, but came within our preferred price range, well below that average. One of the most accomplished North American-raced sons of legendary Danzig, Hard Spun captured six stakes events, including the King’s Bishop Stakes (G1), and finished second in the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1), Kentucky Derby (G1), and Haskell Invitational Stakes (G1).
A world-record breaking sire, Hard Spun is responsible for 115 stakes winners, 58 graded, and 15 grade one winners, including Eclipse Award Champion Questing; Centennial’s own Wood Memorial Stakes (G1) winner Wicked Strong, Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1) hero Aloha West, Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1) captor Spun to Run, Metropolitan Handicap (G1) victor Silver State, Hard Aces, Hard Not to Like, Hardest Core, Zo Impressive, Out For a Spin, Smooth Roller, and Hardest Core. The dam of this colt, Yalla Yalla, is a young daughter of Empire Maker, a classic winner, outstanding sire, and broodmare sire of 106 stakes winners, 49 graded, including Kentucky Derby (G1) laureate Mandaloun, Dubai World Cup (G1) victor Laurel River, and fellow grade one winners Separationofpowers, Nobals, Arklow, Silver State, Valiance, Rock Your World, and Outwork.
Yalla Yalla is half-sister to the Allaire DuPont Distaff Stakes (G3) victress Super Quick, who twice came within two lengths of defeating different Kentucky Oaks winners; to stakes winning and grade one placed Viva Majorca; and to Quick Quick Quick, a black-type winner of over $500,000.
Yalla Yalla’s granddam, Quick Start, is a winning half-sister to the Skip Away Stakes (G3) scorer S. S. Stone, and is a daughter of the multiple stakes winning Sing and Swing. Sing and Swing herself is out of Kentucky Oaks winner Sun and Snow, also dam of stakes winner Windandsea, ancestress of 27 stakes winners, including American Oaks (G1) captress Nereid, and graded winners Chilly Billy, Fisich, Belong to Sea, Super Quick, and Hammerhead. This is a family that was developed by the beloved Whitney family for decades and generations – first by C. V. Whitney and more recently by Marylou Whitney.
