Overview
Candy Ride has finished each of the last three years among the top five leading sires. Brilliant and versatile, he is poised for another big year in 2017. He is already responsible for multiple graded stakes winners this year, including our own Unified. This rugged bay colt, the son of a young stakes winning mare, impressed breezing at the OBS March Sale.
He closed out the spring Aqueduct meet in sweet fashion with a gate to wire win on April 20 going 1 1/8 miles with leading rider of the meet, Manny Franco aboard.
It was back to back wins for Candygram as he delivered a powerful score again on May 17 against AOC N2X competition in impressive fashion. He earned a 97 Beyer drawing away to win by 5 1/2 lengths with Junior Alvarado aboard.
Jumping up to stakes level for the first time, Candygram finished second in the $100,000 State Dinner Stakes on July 7 at Belmont Park.
He has been retired from racing and begins his new career as a stallion for Taylor Mountain Farm in West Virginia in the spring of 2020. We can be sure that former Centennial runner Juba, who also resides at Taylor Mountain, will show him the ropes.
