Twirling Candy has quietly stamped himself as one of the nation’s leading sires and a tremendous source of versatility. His progeny succeed at all distances and surfaces. One of the best of them? Gift Box – a Santa Anita Handicap winner and three-quarter brother to Helix, a Keeneland September graduate.
Helix underwent his early training with Paula Parsons in Middleburg, where he was made eligible for the lucrative Virginia Residency Program. He spent a few weeks in July joining Todd Pletcher’s string but has gone back to the farm for a short layover. All the experience he gained during his time in Saratoga will only help him when he returns and reintegrates back onto the racetrack.
