It took War Officer awhile to break out of the maiden ranks, but he’s got a hang of things now! The gelding, facing winners for the first time, picked up his second straight victory at Gulfstream Park. Neither win would have been possible without the patient partners behind him and we couldn’t be happier for them. Huge congratulations and thanks to them, jockey Edgard Zayas, Todd Pletcher and his staff, Paula Parsons and everyone in Middleburg, Dr. Carr, this cool gelding, and so many more. It takes a village and we love the one behind this guy!
After knocking on the door on multiple occasions, it was finally War Officer’s turn! The gelding delivered a terrific effort under confident handling by jockey Irad Ortiz, Jr. to pull clear to a comfortable maiden score. Our utmost thanks to Todd Pletcher’s team, including grooms Leonel and Julio, Paula Parsons and her staff, Jimmy Jerkens, who had him at two, Dr. Carr, Irad, and his terrific, patient partners.
Every year, the Ocala Breeders’ Sales offers the opportunity to purchase some of the best two-year-olds in training. Recent graduates of their sales include two-time Pegasus World Cup Turf winner Colonel Liam, 2021 Champion Two-Year-Old and Breeders’ Cup winner Corniche, 1-2 Saudi Cup finishers Emblem Road and Country Grammer, G1 winner Cafe Pharoah, and potential Florida Derby favorite White Abarrio. Our experienced acquisition team assembled at the March Sale to find colts who meet our standards of combining an outstanding physical with the pedigrees to excel on track and as stallions. To say Dr. Stephen Carr and Paula Parsons succeeded in that goal is an understatement. The newest additions to the roster are:
Hip 154: Liam’s Map – Star Torina, by A. P. Indy
Hip 357: War Front – Claire de Lune, by Galileo
Hip 567: Malibu Moon – Leaveminthedust, by Danzig
